Affiliate Rock Star Status Review
I just wanted to post a quick review of Affiliate Rockstar Status. If you can’t be bothered to read all of this then let me sum it up for you in a few words: don’t buy it. If you’d like to know why, keep reading…
Take the best of Affiliate Project X and Day Job Killer, rehash them with a couple of extra bits of information taken from other recent affiliate marketing ebooks and the result is Affiliate Rockstar Status.
You’ve read most of it before. There’s a few bits in there about using Google Adwords’ site targeting campaign features (which I started using last year with breast enlargement pills of all things. And by that I mean selling, not literally using…) and it’s a very effective way of getting low cost, targeted traffic.
The ebook starts off (after the usual motivational part at the beginning) explaining that even as an affiliate marketer you need a backend to pull in the real money. No secret there then. I mean, I (along with many other affiliate marketers) have been preaching that for, well, since way before everyone started jumping on the AM band wagon.
Affiliate Rockstar Status then delves into how to find the best products to promote from ClickBank by spreading your risk across various campaigns. After all, the more products promote the more chance you have of finding a profitable campaign. For sure, it makes sense but it all seems a little obvious.
After that we get some Adwords lessons, some of which are actually quite good. I like the ‘writing Adwords copy’ section, though some of what’s printed is open to debate as to whether or not Google will actually allow it when their manual reviewers see it. There’s also a few bits about Google’s Dynamic Keywords Insertion — DKI for short — more of which you can read in my Adwords DKI blog post.
There’s a reasonable section on Web 2.0 tactics for getting organic search traffic, which again is OK. There’s plenty of information in there but at the same time there’s plenty of information missing, especially on the blogging side of things.
Finally, throw in some basics on article marketing, how to build a list and email them and how to potentially get sued by website owners by using software which puts a pop-up over their website and that pretty much sums up Affiliate Rockstar Status.
The information is OK. There’s plenty we’ve all read before and a few things most probably haven’t if you don’t tend to buy a lot of these types of ebooks. But the reasoning behind it almost doesn’t make sense. Let me explain.
Affiliate Project X came out which is an excellent ebook on affiliate marketing. Then Day Job Killer came out, which expanded on APX and gave out plenty of bold promises as to what you’ll achieve. Now Affiliate Rockstar Status is upon us, offering the same promises.
Now I’m not knocking that because we all know 99% of people who buy these ebooks will do nothing with them… ever. They’re compulsive buyers and deep down think that by buying yet another ebook the money they want to earn will magically appear in their bank account. You can rehash most of the old content while adding a little bit of new information and you have yourself a new product which people will buy like crazy and marketers will promote like crazy because they know people will buy it. It is, quite simply, business; find a hungry market and give them what they want.
Sorry if that sounds harsh, especially if you’re a compulsive buyer easily swayed by sales copy, but if you look deep into what I’m saying you’ll know I’m right.
Anyway, back to the reason for the ebook (besides knowing it’ll make a ton of cash in the opening week): The upsell.
There’s the opportunity to buy hosting through a special link which also gets you access to a host of affiliate marketing tools which automate the processes featured in Affiliate Rockstar Status. By all means, the tools look very good and from what I can tell are similar to those available at www.wealthyaffiliate.com.
Again, it makes business sense. Here’s all these techniques and you can get access to some tools to make the entire thing easier to follow for a few bucks a month. After all, the biggest question owners of the ebook will be asking is ‘where do I start?’ so they’re giving you the answer many times in the ebook itself.
It’s a good lesson in marketing, but I’m digressing here. This is about Affiliate Rockstar Status and its content. So, if you own APX or DJK then don’t get this. If you don’t own either of them then get APX. And if you don’t want to get that, get Beating Adwords.
It’s written well enough, but it’s all been written before… and you probably own at least one ebook which covers most of what you’ll find in Affiliate Rockstar Status.
